“We are also working with U.S. company, Wicks Group Consulting, for Angola’s ascension to Category 1 of the Federal Aviation Administration […].”
The Wicks Group is honored and excited to share that the President of the Republic of Angola, President Laurenço, mentioned The Wicks Group (TWG) by name in his speech to U.S. President Joe Biden. According to the official interpretation shared by The White House on December 3, President Laurenço notes that TWG is supporting “Angola accession to Category 1 of Aviation Federal Administration, which could be facilitated by the full functioning of the international airport Antonio Agostinho Neto.”
On December 2-4, 2024, President Joe Biden visited Angola as part of the Biden-Harris administration’s continued efforts to strengthen relationships with African countries. President Biden is the only U.S. president to have visited Angola. President Biden’s trip follows President Laurenço’s visit to Washington, D.C. in November 2023 when President Biden hosted him at the White House.
Prior to President Biden’s visit to Angola, the U.S. and Angola signed the Open Skies Agreement in October 2024, which strengthens the two countries’ civil aviation transportation relationship, thereby enhancing commitments to connectivity and trade. This agreement represents just one component of an ongoing project to bolster the Angolan aviation industry. For example, in 2023, the Angolan flagship air-carrier TAAG agreed to purchase four new 787 aircrafts from Boeing to increase their capacity for long-haul flights.
TWG looks forward to continuing its relationship with TAAG and the Angolan aviation community.
