New Delhi, India – On February 9, 2016, The Wicks Group was selected by India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to provide technical assistance with funding from a grant from the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA). The grant agreement, signed by DGCA and USTDA, supports the DGCA’s continued compliance with international aviation safety standards and builds upon the success of the previous technical assistance project between USTDA, DGCA, and The Wicks Group, “India Aviation Safety Project Phase I”, which resulted in India attaining the FAA’s highest aviation safety rating,Category 1, in April 2015.
During this latest project, “India Aviation Safety Project Phase II,” The Wicks Group will utilize its technical expertise to help India sustain its Category 1 rating through specialized training for DGCA inspectors, additional air carrier and aviation training organization certifications, further development of procedures at regional DGCA offices, and analysis of general aviation and business aviation regulatory approaches. The technical assistance will be carried out over a 12-month period.
The Wicks Group has assisted six foreign civil aviation authorities with achieving or maintaining Category 1, including recent projects for Cabo Verde, India, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, and Trinidad and Tobago. As a member of the U.S.–India Aviation Cooperation Program, The Wicks Group is proud to continue its partnership with the DGCA and remains committed to strengthening aviation safety and promoting the growth of the aviation industry in India.
