The Wicks Group (TWG) Managing Director Glenn Wicks and two members of the firm,
Mara Jenkins, Director, Consulting Services, and Lenica Morales, Director, Consulting Services, attended the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO’s) 14th Air Navigation Conference (AN-Conf/14), the week of August 26, 2024. TWG was pleased to attend this important ICAO conference and support as a Silver Sponsor.
As described by ICAO, the theme of the conference was, “Performance Improvement Driving Sustainability,” and the objective “to reach a global consensus on performance improvement initiatives that will best allow ICAO, Member States and industry to address, in the context of constrained resources, aviation’s global environmental challenges and the rapid evolution in aviation operations and technologies.”[1] The Conference was open to all ICAO Member States with attendance by decision-making senior officials and high-level technical advisors on air navigation and safety.
The AN-Conf/14 agenda items included an update on the ICAO 2023-2025 Business Plan and long-term strategic planning; timely and safe use of new technologies; air navigation system performance improvement; and hyper-connectivity of the air navigation system. Detailed technical discussions to address high-level recommendations on air navigation and safety were held during the Conference; the recommendations which will be submitted for approval to the Council as well as possible endorsement by the 42nd Session of the Assembly in 2025. The AN-Conf/14 laid the groundwork to direct ICAO priorities and work in preparation for the 42nd Session of the Assembly.
TWG was pleased to have the opportunity to see many good friends in aviation from all over the world at the Conference, as well as establish new relationships with key leaders at ICAO and delegates from several Member States, all working towards ensuring and advancing international aviation safety and air navigation. TWG congratulates ICAO on a very successful Conference and a job well done. TWG looks forward to continuing to engage with ICAO and its Member States in support of collaboration on international aviation safety and air navigation, sustainment of the aviation system, and innovation.
